Suffolk Family Carers
In 2007 Elizabeth Handy was approached by Suffolk Family Carers who asked her to provide photographic portraits of some of the people who care for members of their family in their own homes, in order to raise interest in their situation.
There are approximately 98,000 adult Family Carers and 4000 Young Carers in Suffolk.They are the often unnoticed pillars of our community, doing for love what otherwise we would all have to pay others to do. Suffolk Family Carers, a charity, was created to offer information, support and respite.
This project focused on just some of these dedicated people. The portraits help to demonstrate the true fullness of their lives. Like the rest of us they each have other roles and interests as well as their service of care. Their lives and work deserve to be celebrated - and supported.
